A classroom buzzes with activity around a pod of computer terminals. Another group in the class is gathered around a cable television. Are they gathering and collating data to research class projects? Creating presentations? Communicating with students in other countries? Having a mathematics contest over the LAN?

The possibilities for the use of technology within a Montessori environment are limited only by imagination and the availability of the technology itself.

The Clariden School has demonstrated a commitment to providing the most cost effective solutions to our faculty’s and students’ technology needs. TCS staff and volunteers themselves have provided most of the labor, installation, and maintenance of our technology, representing considerable savings to the school. Some of our equipment has been donated. However, the donated network that TCS uses now is too slow to meet student needs and system/workstation downtime is counterproductive to both the teaching and administrative environments. Many of our computers have reached the end of their lifecycles and others are fast-approaching it. Many of the software licenses held by TCS have expired or are soon to expire. Our server is overtaxed by heavy loading and heavy usage, resulting in information and website crashes.

Detailed picture of TCS current technology status and goals

Thus poised on the brink of technological opportunity, the Clariden Parent Organization has selected the seeding of a new, permanent TCS Technology budget line item as the focus of the 2006 Share the Dream Fundraiser. While TCS retains its commitment to cost effective technology solutions, we must recognize that it is time to take this commitment to the next level. Our fundraising goal for this year’s Share the Dream Monte Carlo Themed Dinner and Auction is $50,000.

Help us make a difference in our students’ educational experience through a commitment to technology!
